Q. How do I register?
A. Create a Sports Connect account (If you do not already have one) at www.heightsnorhill.com and create your player. Once the player is created, you will see an "Available Programs" next to their name.
Q. My player's family has a financial hardship. Does HNLL offer any type of scholarships or financial assistance?
A. Yes, HNLL partners with Every Kid Sports who has additional financial assistance resources available to help families. To apply for the scholarship, or for more information on financial assistance, please visit: https://everykidsports.org/every-kid-sports-pass/
Under this program potential recipients pay $10 of the registration fee and Every Kid issues a gift card up to $150 to assist with registration costs. If approved for a gift card you will need to contact [email protected] to make special arrangements so that this gift card can be accepted as payment.
The T-Mobile Little League® Call Up Grant is dedicated to helping families in need by covering registration fees associated with their local Little League program. T-Mobile and Little League share the belief that every child should have the chance to experience Little League, regardless of their financial or personal situation. Q. Do I have to fill out a background check form?
A. If you plan on having any on field interaction with the children (Manager, coach, team mom, etc.) then yes, this is a Little League requirement.
Q. What days are games played and where?
A. Games are played at Stude Park located 1100 Usener St and Cottage Grove Park located at 2100 Arebelle St. Games will be played Tuesday-Saturday and games start as early as 6P with last game starting no later than 8P. Games are NOT on a set-day of the week each week and game-days will vary week-to-week.
Q. What is the difference between a player’s ACTUAL AGE & LEAGUE AGE?
A. Little League Intl. has an established league age chart. This chart bases the players "league age" on their age as of AUGUST 31st of the year in question. (note, for Fall seasons, HNLL uses the following year's age chart - e.g. fall 2022 was based on the age chart for 2023).
Q. How do game and practices work?
A. Game schedules are determined after registration closes, and preliminary practices have begun. Your team manager/coach will communicate your team's schedule via GroupMe as soon as it is available, along with any other remaining details. After your first practice, your coach will be your main point of contact.
Practice locations vary and will be communicated to you by your coach before the season begins. The practices will be held on Tuesday thru Saturday, depending on the preference and availability of the coach. We will try to accommodate requests for practice nights, but we cannot guarantee them.
Q. What does my child need?
Uniforms - In the Spring, HNLL provides the jersey, hat, belt, and socks. You will be responsible for the pants (color will be decided by your coach). In the Fall, HNLL provides the jersey and hat. You will be responsible for the pants, belt, and socks (color will be decided by your coach).
Gear- Glove, approved USA Baseball Bat, helmet, cleats, bag, and pants.
Q. Can my child play with his or her friends?
A. Teammate/ Coach requests can be applied at the time of registration, although it is not guaranteed.
Q. Can my child play up a division?
A. The player’s age on August 31st determines the players eligible age division for that current season. Players can play up a division but never down a division, there are few to no exceptions to this rule. If you believe your child should play-up a division you would need to email the league at [email protected] with your request and attend the mandatory skills assessment for your division and the requested play-up division. Final determination will be made by the Coach's Committee as well as the Player Agent.
